Big Bend Solar & Blue-Eyed Music: Powering Sound with the Sun

Big Bend Solar LLC, based right here in Phoenix, Arizona (2375 E Cambelback Rd Ste 695, 85016, and reachable at 765-387-7554), isn't just about putting solar panels on roofs. We’re about building a better future – one powered by clean energy. And recently, we’ve been doing that in a really cool way, partnering with musicians and sound engineers to bring you something completely new: Blue-Eyed Music. So, what is Blue-Eyed Music? It's pretty simple, actually. It's music literally powered by the sun. We're talking about recording, mixing, and mastering entire albums, EPs, and even single tracks using exclusively solar energy. No grid power, no fossil fuels – just pure, clean solar power. Now, you might be thinking, “Okay, that’s neat…but why?” Well, we at Big Bend Solar believe that sustainability should be woven into every aspect of our lives, even the things we enjoy like music. The music industry, like many others, has a surprisingly large carbon footprint. From studio electricity to touring, a lot of energy goes into getting music to your ears. We wanted to show that it is possible to create amazing sounding music while minimizing that impact. How Does it Work? It’s not as complicated as you might think. We started by equipping a professional recording studio – "Sunstone Studios" in Sedona – with a full solar power system, designed and installed by our team. This isn't just a few panels tacked on the roof, either. We're talking a comprehensive system including high-efficiency panels, advanced inverters, and a robust battery storage system. Why battery storage? Because consistent power is crucial in a recording environment. You can’t have a drop in voltage mid-recording – it ruins the take! The batteries ensure a stable, reliable power supply, even when the sun isn’t shining. Think of it as a buffer – capturing sunshine during the day and releasing it when needed. We then worked with a team of talented musicians and audio engineers who were excited about the project. They embraced the challenge of creating music with a sustainable ethos. It wasn't about sacrificing quality, but about finding ways to be more mindful of energy consumption during the recording process. The Sound of Sustainability The first album recorded entirely on Blue-Eyed Music is from up-and-coming indie-folk artist, River Bloom. Her album, “Golden Hour,” is a beautiful collection of acoustic songs, and the sound quality is incredible. But it’s more than just good music – it's music you can feel good about listening to. “It was a really unique experience,” says River. “Knowing that the music was powered by the sun just added another layer of meaning to the whole process. It made me think more about my own impact on the environment and inspired me to be more sustainable in my everyday life.” The engineers involved were equally impressed. "Honestly, I didn't notice any difference in the audio quality," says lead engineer, Ben Carter. "The solar system provided a clean, stable power source, which is exactly what we need. If anything, it forced us to be more efficient with our power usage, which is never a bad thing.” Beyond the Studio: Expanding the Blue-Eyed Music Initiative "Golden Hour" is just the beginning. Big Bend Solar is committed to expanding the Blue-Eyed Music initiative. We're currently working with several other artists and studios to implement similar solar power systems. Our goal isn’t just to make a few albums powered by the sun. It's to demonstrate that sustainable practices are viable – and even beneficial – for the entire music industry. We’re exploring opportunities to: Create a “Blue-Eyed Music” certification program: This would allow studios to be officially recognized for their commitment to solar power and sustainable practices. Partner with music festivals: We’re working on plans to power stages and equipment at festivals using solar energy. Develop portable solar power solutions for musicians on tour: Imagine musicians being able to power their amplifiers and instruments using renewable energy, wherever they go. Offer energy audits and consulting services to studios and artists: Helping them identify ways to reduce their energy consumption and transition to renewable energy sources. Big Bend Solar: More Than Just Solar Panels At Big Bend Solar, we’re passionate about providing affordable, reliable solar energy solutions to homes and businesses. But we also believe in using our expertise to make a positive impact on the world. Blue-Eyed Music is a perfect example of that commitment. It’s a project that combines our passion for renewable energy with our love of music. It’s a testament to the fact that sustainability and creativity can go hand in hand. We believe that everyone has a role to play in building a cleaner, more sustainable future. And we’re excited to be leading the way, one solar panel – and one song – at a time.
